Off the busy A5 road in Corwen North Wales, making retail history you may be a little surprised to learn you will find a drive-thru, based on a farm, a first for us in Wales and the whole of the UK in fact.
Passionate advocate of the Slow Food Movement, Lord Newborough owner of Rhug Estate in Corwen approached Cadnant Planning to work on plans for a pioneering farm-food Drive-thru.
Visiting a farm for recreation is an activity that has been increasing in the last 10 years says Cadnants Planning expert Sioned Edwards it sits nicely within the work we do in the agricultural sector…. but a farm drive-thru, well that has certainly brought a new dimension to Argitourism to us.
We are very experienced in Agri planning for buildings and to work on something so diverse was extremely satisfying. There are no bench marks to draw upon, so not only was Lord Newborough breaking new ground, our planning application was the first of its kind too.
“To be progressive within the confines of conservation and agriculture takes an exceptional mind. Lord Newbrorough has recently been awarded PERSON OF THE YEAR by Slow Food Cymru/Wales and it certainly is well deserved” said Sioned.
Not everyone has the time to stop for a sit-down meal, but lots of people would really like a farm shop prepared meal to take away. A drive-thru solved this problem located just off the A5, busy travellers are now able to enjoy farm fresh food.
Projects always come with their own complications. We worked hard to prepare and navigate the application through the planning system, we had to tackle access and egress off a Trunk Road, flood risk, we needed high quality design and sympathetic layout due to its rural location. It was a challenging job but pioneering work always is said” Rhys Davies Director of Cadnant PlanningIf you would like to talk through a new project which needs planning, call us we can help you. 01492 581800
